Breaking news, today May 7, as Max Air aircraft made an emergency landing at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, Nigeria. Reports indicate that the landing was due to a tire bursting into flames on the plane.
The aircraft was flying in from Yola, the capital of Adamawa State when the incident occurred.
Onboard the aircraft was a former President of the Nigeria Medical Association, Dr. Mike Ogirima, who gave an eyewitness account of the incident.
According to him, the tire burst occurred shortly after takeoff from the Yola Airport. Despite this, the pilot successfully managed to make an emergency landing in Abuja, with emergency officials already on standby to put out the flames before the passengers disembarked right at the runway.
Speaking to reporters, Dr. Ogirima expressed his gratitude to God for sparing their lives, stating, “We thank God. We are still on the runway, and the pilot has reassured us. He has called for the stairs, and we are now disembarking from the runway to be evacuated to the airport building at the arrival hall”.
“We bless God because we have witnessed the pull out of the tyre right from the airport in Yola, and we went into a prayer session. I never announced it as a surgeon so as not to cause any panic, but we bless God.”Vanguard quoted him as saying.
