Celebrity culture is one that is revered all over the world, and fans love to see their favorite stars doing amazing things. In many parts of the world, it is considered a sign of success and accomplishment to go back home and surprise one’s parents with expensive gifts after achieving fame and wealth.
This is also true in Nigeria, where celebrities never miss an opportunity to surprise their parents with grand gestures such as building mansions or gifting them expensive cars.
Bubbles Media, a Nigerian media outlet, recently compiled a list of some of the country’s most beloved celebrities who built homes for their parents after becoming successful and wealthy. Here are five of the stars on that list:
1. Emmanuella Samuel
The 12-year-old YouTube comedian and actress, Emmanuella Samuel, surprised her mother with a mansion in November 2020. The young starlet presented the gift as an early Christmas present, thanking her mother for all the prayers and encouragement she had shown her. Emmanuella also promised to build an even bigger mansion for herself in the future.
2. Destiny Etiko
On her mother’s birthday in December 2018, Nollywood actress Destiny Etiko gifted her mom a mansion as a show of appreciation for the love and support she had given her and her siblings. This was not the first time the “drama doll” had gifted her mother with expensive presents; in 2022, she gifted her mother a brand new Toyota Venza as a birthday present.
3. Sabinus
AMVCA award winner, Mr. Funny, also known as Oga Sabinus, surprised his parents with a mansion in 2021, shortly after achieving celebrity status. Sharing photos and videos of the well-furnished apartment, the comedian described himself as a handsome boy and asked his parents to manage the cute mansion as a little gift from him to them.
4. De General

Nigerian skit maker and content creator, Joshua Martins, better known as DeGeneral, gifted his parents a beautiful mansion, splashing millions to make it happen. The house is exquisite and breathtaking, as seen in a video shared by his colleague and friend, Mc Edo Pikin.
5. Chizzy Alichi
Nollywood actress Chizzy Alichi gifted her parents a bungalow after saving up for many years to build the beautiful mansion. She shared before and after photos of the new house, which she said was not just a huge gift, but a dream come true to give her parents such a good home. Alichi also revealed that her parents had been living in a leaking roof for years before the new mansion.
These celebrities are setting a good example by showing love and appreciation to their parents in such grand ways. Their actions are a reminder that no matter how successful and famous one becomes, it is essential to remember one’s roots and the people who helped them get to where they are today.
